Implications of the coronavirus pandemic for your analytical and / or sampling work –          23rd March 2020

Given the developing situation with regard to the coronavirus pandemic we would like to update you on the implications for your analytical and / or sampling work.

 

We are keen to do our part to reduce transmission of coronavirus amongst the wider population and to protect our employees from unnecessary contact. As a Water Undertaker we also have wider public health responsibilities that we must meet.

 

At the moment our laboratories are operating normally but we will advise you if this situation changes. As with everyone, our situation is fluid as we look to follow government advice over self-isolation. As a precautionary measure we are therefore unable to commit to taking on significant new bodies of work while we monitor developments. We are also taking steps to reduce the volume of incoming commercial work to protect our available capacity and resources. If the situation deteriorates significantly then it is possible that we may have to restrict our workload further. 

 

At present, our commercial sampling capabilities are limited and under daily review as we focus on supporting our own regulatory work.

0191 296 8366 to confirm the current situation. 

 

For those who deliver their samples directly to our sites please do not attend if you or anyone you have recently interacted with displays symptoms of COVID-19 infection. Also, if anybody who has attended one of our sites subsequently falls ill then please advise us immediately. 

 

If you do deliver samples to us then please follow all specific on-site guidance which will include a ‘one in - one out’ system to minimise inter-personal contact, maintenance of suitable social distance (at least 6 feet) and the use of hand sanitiser gels as provided. 

 

You will appreciate that due to the fluidity of the situation we are keeping our plans under regular review and we will keep of informed if the situation changes significantly.
