09 March 2016
On 8th March 2016 our Scientific Support Laboratory Manager, Dr Ian Barnabas, chaired a national meeting of UK laboratories to discuss sample stability.
The meeting considered how stability data is produced and what data is currently available across UK labs. The meeting was organised via the Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA) with the intention that UK data is collated into a new Bluebook that can not only be used as a new national reference but also be taken forward to help improve the integrity of the data within the International standard ISO 5667-3.
The majority of water laboratories sent a representative and the meeting was positive with all being willing to participate in collating data. The next step is to produce a reporting template to capture all of the existing sample stability data across laboratories and to assess any significant differences. A second meeting is planned for September 2016.
