We spent an excellent day as an exhibitor and presenter at the RHE Private Water Supplies (PWS) Workshop & Conference on 18th May.
This event gathered together a broad range of PWS stakeholders including local authorities, water companies, laboratories, equipment manufacturers, hydrogeologists, and academics. It provided a great forum to discuss PWS issues, including emerging concerns such as radon and cryptosporidium.
Our break-out session was chaired by Alan Brown, our Scientific Support Manager, and focussed on the regulatory requirements for UKAS & DWTS sampling, transportation and reporting.
A key take-home message for us was that local authorities would appreciate more support from their laboratories on interpretation of results and possible follow on actions after PCV failures. We also received a number of requests for sampling training. We are actively pursuing both of these areas and will be in touch with local authorities to gather more detailed information on their requirements.
