A new Thermo TSQ8000 Triple Quadrupole GC-MS/MS system has been installed in our Howdon laboratory.
The improved selectivity of the triple quad over single quads reduces the need for sample preparation and enables us to achieve much lower detection limits in dirty sample extracts. The instrument will also increase productivity by significantly reducing analysis times. More information for this instrument can be found on the Thermo Scientific website here.
One of the first tasks for the new instrument is to validate methods to achieve the low detection limits specified for CIP2. This monitoring programme is being carried out to ensure compliance with the latest Environmental Quality Standards required by the Water Framework Directive.
