Our Scientific Support Laboratory Manager, Dr. Ian Barnabas, attended the International ISO TC 147 Water Quality meeting held in June in Philadelphia, USA.
The week long meeting saw 150 delegates from over 20 countries come together to discuss and draft ISO standards for a range of physical, chemical and microbiological methods determining a range of new and emerging substances in water.
Ian is chair of the BSI committee that attends on behalf of the UK. He attended 10 meetings across the week on subjects such as perfluoroacids (PFOS), chloroalkanes and analytical precision. It is important that the UK provides input to these standards which will be progressed at the next meeting in 18 months time.
